[BREAKING NEWS] ESPN Pulls Asian Announcer For Having Same Name As Confederate General

ESPN pulls announcer for having the same name as Confederate General

Leave it to the liberal media to prove who the real racists are by pulling an Asian sportscaster from a broadcast simply because his name is the same as Confederate General Robert E. Lee. After the horrible events in Charlottesville over a week ago, ESPN made the decision to pull Robert Lee from calling a University of Virginia football game to avoid any controversy.

Charlottesville ignited a storm that divided our country more than has been seen in decades. Since that time liberals have been working overtime to tear down any monuments that have to do with the Confederacy because of what it supposedly represented. In an attempt to lower the controversy, ESPN has made a move that has only made the left look even dumber.

Robert Lee is an Asian-American sportscaster who got his start with ESPN back in 2016. He was moved to a different game “simply because of the coincidence of his name,” ESPN said, referencing the Confederate general Robert E. Lee.

On Aug. 12, violence broke out at a protest from a white-nationalist group opposing the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue in Charlottesville. A driver ultimately rammed his car into a crowd of counter-protesters, killing one woman and injuring more than a dozen other people, police said.

The network’s full statement: “We collectively made the decision with Robert to switch games as the tragic events in Charlottesville were unfolding, simply because of the coincidence of his name. In that moment it felt right to all parties. It’s a shame that this is even a topic of conversation and we regret that who calls play-by-play for a football game has become an issue.”

ESPN has been accused by many of leaning too far to the left in recent years. As a result, the network has seen a drop in viewership and received a large amount of backlash and their recent decision won’t help the situation.
