ARE WE ENTERING A NEW ERA IN THE UNITED STATES?

Two Cultures In One Nation

The election map points out what many have noticed for years: America has developed TWO value systems, TWO cultural identities.

Blue Counties:

A county by county review of 2016 presidential votes reveals several eye-opening facts: Clinton voters were heavily concentrated in inner-cities and large metropolitan areas and also heavily concentrated on both the east and the west coasts. Put another way, Trump voters were concentrated in medium & small sized cities and rural areas, as well as in America’s heartland.

That is not to say that EVERY voter in a “blue county” voted for Clinton. Indeed, in the county where I reside, Clackamas County, Oregon, Clinton received 47%, Trump received 41%, with 12% going to third party candidates. My county is part of the Portland Metro Area with numerous suburbs but much rural area as well. Clinton did not come close to 50%, yet it is counted as a blue county.

Meeting with a group of Liberal women several months ago to discuss the presidential election, it became obvious that these women thought there was no such thing as a Trump voter in Clackamas County. As the group was breaking up, the two women sitting right in front of me were strategizing how they could find a Trump voter to talk to. They needed a bug in a bottle to study, and they assumed there were so few Trump voters in our county that they would have to search far and wide to find one, not noticing the one sitting behind them.

Red Counties:

Likewise, not EVERY voter in a “red county” voted for Trump. Friends of ours live in Washington County, Texas, which is situated between Houston and the state’s capital, Austin. The county is rural with only one city, Brenham, which has 16,000 residents. This is a decidedly red county with 68% of voters choosing Trump, 23% voting for Clinton and 9% selecting third party candidates.

During a recent visit to Texas our friends told us that they would not wear Trump hats because their county did have bitter Clinton voters who would key your car if they knew you support President Trump.

Although an American’s place of residence does not necessarily inform others about his or her political viewpoint, in face to face discussions the political divide becomes clear quite quickly.

The political polarization is clear-cut:

1) Between those who think the Feds should control less of our lives and those who want them to be more intrusive.
2) Between those who want to keep & manage their own hard-earned money and those who want the Feds to take more money from the earners and manage it as the politicians & bureaucrats desire.
3) Between those who trust their fellow Americans and those who trust government.
4) Between those who enjoy working for what they have and those who enjoy living off the fruits of others.
5) Between those who think the American culture should be preserved and those who want to destroy it.
6) Between those who believe the Rule of Law benefits everyone and those who think it is acceptable to break any law they don’t like.
7) Between those who believe government’s top priority is to protect its citizens and those who believe government’s top priority is to force us to accept Left-wing ideology.
8) Between those who want to “live & let live” and those who want everyone to live as they do.
9) Between those who believe each should follow his/her own religious beliefs and those who want fewer Christians & more Muslims.
10) Between those who want to preserve America’s sovereignty and those who want no borders.
11) Between those who believe all human life is precious and those who believe that some life is not worth living.

I INVITE READERS TO ADD TO THIS LIST.

Despite this list, the truly biggest divide between The Left and The Right is in their methods: The Left screams, cusses, demands and threatens that not only must everyone agree with them, but everyone must CATER to them. The Left is comfortable with violence in the streets and insists that their ideology be enforced by the Federal government. The Right does not expect everyone to agree with them, and just wants to be left alone to live as they please. The Right also believes political debate belongs in the living room, the Senate chamber, the State legislature where, hopefully, it is civil.

I am a proud American who is tired of biting my tongue for fear of making a Liberal mad, for fear of being called racist because I believe in the Rule of Law, for fear of damaging my license to practice law. NO MORE!!!! Conservative minded citizens have stayed silent for decades while Liberals have caused significant damage to American culture and to our nation. If we want anything of value to remain for future generations we need to act now, speak out now. Don't be cowed.

Also, there is a comment section below each article. I was hired just last month so I only have 20 articles so far: Legal analysis to cultural analysis, history to current events, serious to silly, I am an eclectic writer. There will be articles to interest everyone.

  2. Another difference:
Those who believe that cost of government has to be sustainable through taxation, and those who don’t care if costs are sustainable or not.

Excellent point! Give me, give me, give me. They don't care about the future of America or Americans. They just care about what they can get in their grubby hands NOW.
